Mentoring

As a high profile staff member, Elaine was part of formal mentoring programmes in large Federal Government departments.

Colleagues (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and multicultural staff) sought her out as an informal mentor.

Through discussions, we understood their passions, drive, ambition and issues. Together, we worked through any issues, steering them forwards. They have been promoted and we remain friends.

Elaine also offers mentoring and work placements to University students, eg as part of the University of Newcastle’s Empower mentoring program.

Elaine volunteer mentors at-risk youth, new immigrants and adults with mental health issues with various community organisations.
