Removing Legislative Red Tape

Situation

Government announced changes to legislation that would introduce significant additional red tape for superannuation funds and other financial services providers.

The Minister’s office told me they were  not hearing consistent views across the business sector.

This made it impossible for government to draft legislation that the industry would be happy with.

Solution

I contacted and negotiated with all stakeholders.

I set up a ‘first’, by bringing all stakeholders together to discuss the impact of the changes and reach a cross-industry consensus on the top issues (and resolutions) for the industry.

This led to a joint industry bodies’ submission to government and successful legislation that satisfied both the industry and government.
